An innovative speech therapy tool designed to help individuals recall words at home.
Speak-its: Empowering Communication,
One Word at a Time.
When everyday words get jumbled, everyday life gets harder.
After a stroke or brain injury, it’s common to confuse words, like calling a bowl a cup. At home, when no one is around to help, these mix-ups can feel frustrating or even isolating.
Speak-its bridges the gap between therapy sessions and independent practice, empowering users to strengthen their communication skills by having their words “stick.”
It’s a simple, in-the-moment memory aid designed to help people recall what matters, and say it with confidence.
What It Is + How It Works
Speak-its are patent pending smart, stick-on devices that help words stick — literally.
Each Speak-it is a small, recordable button. Here’s how it works:
-

1. Record
The individual or caregiver records a single word.
-

2. Label
The word is written on the device by using a label.
-

3. Stick it
The device sticks to the target.
-

4. Hear
The individual presses the button to hear the recorded word
Customizable for individual needs
Therapist-approved for effective independent practice
Empowers confidence in communication

Hi, I’m Marisha Bourgeois.
I’m a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and Speech-Language Pathologist based in Juneau Alaska, passionate about helping people find their words — and make them stick.
Speak-its was inspired by a patient who struggled to name everyday objects at home.
I wanted to create something that could provide the right word in real time — without depending on a caregiver.
That’s how Speak-its was born: simple, accessible tools for real-life communication.
